TRY A NEW CRAFT

Have you ever wanted to explore new crafts?

NEEDLE FELTING Maybe the one for you!
NEEDLE FELTING SCULPTURES
If you enjoy the repetitive movement of hand poking raw wool then, you must try needle felting! LOL
OK, it isn't so much poking these fibers until they tangle to create shapes that eventually become something great, is more a matter of patience and imagination for me.
I never plan what I want to create when I poke until the project is half way done, then I give it a look, a distinct stare and even its own personality, just like Rocco.
Rocco is a wise owl, he's really little only 2.5" tall.
I made Rocco in about 5 hours and I loved every minute!!

SO WHAT'S NEEDLE FELTING?
With the use of barbed felting needles, un-spun wool fibers can be sculpted into three dimensional objects through the magic of sculptural needle felting. The lifelike quality of wool lends itself as the perfect medium for sculpting animals and people. Sculptural needle felting is fun and easy to learn without the use of sewing, stuffing, or wire armatures, simply by using basic needle felted egg shapes.

WHERE TO BUY MATERIALS
If you live in the US or Canada, you can buy everything you need to start needle felting from
Michaels Crafts.http://www.michaels.com/

Needle felting isn't a very expensive craft considering you wont make large projects but if you do, I suggest you purchase your wool (or roving, as they call it in this industry) from the internet in places like Ebay or Amazon, there you'll get better deals than at your local craft retail shops.

WARNING
Needle felting is NOT a craft for children!!

You will learn soon enough that this craft will hurt your fingertips every time you poke them by mistake...is part of the fun... lol...ok, is not fun but it will happen.

HOW TO NEEDLE FELT SCULPTURES
Needle felting sculptures is a bit different from generally needle felting simply because you are shaping the roving rather than adding felt onto another surface.

See this site for a more visual tutorial to needle felting sculptures.
